Pula Parking's smart vehicle for advanced control of parking collection

Checking whether a vehicle has paid for the parking service in Pula is now faster, simpler and more efficient, given that Pula Parking has a new smart vehicle equipped by PENTA with an advanced camera system for recognizing license plates (ANPR - automatic number plate recognition). Thanks to this technology, the city has significantly improved the efficiency and productivity of its parking services, and this innovation is another step towards improving the quality of life for citizens.

Vehicle equipment used to record parked vehicles consists of cameras, a mobile device in the vehicle that controls the cameras, and portable devices that are easily moved from one vehicle to another. The cameras that are mounted on the vehicle are weatherproof, enable recognition in the dark (IR), and have built-in automatic number plate readings (ANPR). In contrast, the camera communicates via a wired or wireless connection with the importer's mobile device (and with each other). The system processes the data collected from one or more cameras on the vehicle, which read the license plates of vehicles in parking and violation zones while driving and stores photos and other required data. The system enables the simultaneous operation of several cameras on the vehicle, the reading of license plates while driving at speeds of up to 40 km/h, while the readings - or data, are transferred to the system in real-time and contain a photo, GPS position, license plate number and the degree of reliability of the reading. The functionality of the equipment and system is guaranteed in all weather conditions. It may happen that the registration on the vehicle is not entirely clearly visible for some reason, either due to weather, light reflection, etc. However, the device has features of artificial intelligence to learn and add what is missing from the letters and/or numbers immediately on the field without disturbing his observation time in the first pass.

By implementing this system, Pula has set a new standard in the management of parking spaces, thus positioning itself as a city that is ready to adopt new technologies in order to improve urban life. In addition to speeding up the parking control process, this smart vehicle also contributes to reducing road congestion and optimizing traffic. A smart vehicle with ANPR cameras in Pula shows how simple but efficient technological solutions can bring significant local and global advantages. Pula Parking continues with the digital transformation trend, striving to create a more intelligent and sustainable urban environment for all its citizens.
